           A Touch of Class

For three years in a row, FORTHGEAR has provided the creative and execution of printed materials for Davis Education Foundation’s annual spring fundraising gala, which has included a gourmet dinner, entertainment, silent auction and public auction. The "black-tie" gala is one of the premier social events in Davis County and is the Foundation’s biggest fundraiser of the year. Materials have included invitations, program, menu cards, donation envelopes, hangtags and advertising/marketing materials.

The Challenge
The Foundation knew they wanted a theme that was different and unexpected for their gala held on April 17, 2009 at the Davis Conference Center. They decided to center the night’s festivities on an Asian theme, and engaged FORTHGEAR to come up with the actual event title and "look and feel" of all the printed materials.

The Solution
"Night of the Dragon" was the chosen theme and the creative/design quickly centered on portraying this mystical creature. The final solution incorporated many Asian elements, including authentic Chinese calligraphy. Regular contact was maintained with the client to insure timely delivery of collateral as deadlines drew near. Brent Severe, now executive director at Davis Education Foundation, explains their collaborative relationship with FORTHGEAR: "You never have to worry about a marketing or advertising program when working with FORTHGEAR. They are masters at making [things] happen, even under the most challenging deadlines and circumstances. The Result
The event was a complete sell-out! In a new twist, the Foundation decided to commission FORTHGEAR to design a solution to help collect possible donations at the individual dinner tables. A unique Chinese donation envelope was designed and the Foundation was able to bring in an extra $5,000 just from the envelopes. Needless to say, we had a very happy client—and we were able to enjoy a wonderful event benefiting our community.
